Home Remedies Discovered

Its been a couple of days since I have been able to blog due to germs. Flu season is here and I will not get sick because I got my flu shot….or not. My husband going to work is like sending your child off to daycare. The germs have a way to find themselves into your home and the worst has come when your sweet little bundle is now sick. Caden started with a slight cough about five days ago. It has been getting better each day with some great home cold remedies and extra mommy love. When Caden started displaying cold symptoms I immediately started the following. Just a side note – Caden is completely breastfeed and currently sleeps in a rocker next to our bedside.

1. Vicks Steam Vaporizer with Steam Liquid – this works wonders and allows for baby to breath easy relieving congestion.

2. Hospital grade bulb syringe – I would get the most drained in mornings and evenings. I would also use the syringe habitually before breast feedings so the extra liquid in my babies nose would not disturb his ability to nurse. To get the best results be sure to ONLY slightly stick the syringe in and angle inward.

3. Steam Showers – No we didn’t put the baby in the shower. But we did put the baby in the rocker in the bathroom every time we hopped in the shower so Caden was able to clear his sinuses. Follow with the bulb syringe.

4. Natural Oils – I combined 4 tablespoons of olive oil, 2 drops of rosemary oil, 2 drops of eucalyptus, 2 drops of peppermint. After mixing I rubbed a bit on Caden’s chest right before bedtime. The eucalyptus aids in chest congestion, peppermint aids in nasal congestion, and rosemary aids in relaxation and rest. Yes, I know its tempting to add a couple more drops of rosemary, but pure oils are very intense so just 2 drops. You will find these oils at your neighborhood organic health store.

After about a week of doing the above Caden’s cold seems to barely bother him and he is showing minimal cold symptoms. Home remedies are definitely the way to go for the common cold.

Home Sweet Home

Two Days ago I was carrying down Caden down the stairs in his rocker. Oopsy…I tripped and missed a step. I felt the rocker slip so my first reaction was grab Caden. Caden is perfect and safe. Unfortunately my knee fell into the cornered baseboard and I think I sprained it. Ouch! My husband walks in two seconds later to the rescue. Thank GOD for I was seeing stars. So I am home elevating my leg and icing it often.

I am bored so what do I do? Shop of course. Check out MamaBargains.com today for $11.72. I just ordered Caden an Amber necklace to help with the pain of his pearly whites that will soon start to sprout. It is also suppose to help with the drool too! yay!  I cannot wait to receive it. I just learned that Natural Baltic Amber has therapeutic qualities and provides natural pain relief. The oils from the amber necklace will absorb in baby’s skin reducing teething pain, reduce drooling, boost immune system, reduce inflammation, reduce infection and diseases. I will let you know if I have any success with it.

Mamabargains.com changes their product when the current product they are selling is sold out. So hurry! It is a similar website to woot.com, but for just for Mamas. However, Woot.com today has a 72 pack of Kodak AAA or AA for just $14.99. That sounds like a great Mama deal to me.

H&M has baby clothes and they are SUPER cute yet affordable on a Mommy Budget

I recently discovered that H&M clothing has the most adorable baby and kids clothes.   H & M

Also, there prices are fantastic & I am very impressed with the good quality of their clothing line. I purchased the two sweaters you see below at the end of last season for $3 each! If you can estimate your babies size it can really save you when winter comes around.

A couple of days ago I bought the socks below for $3 and received a $5 gift card (special promotion they were doing). So I went back and grabbed the blue/white stripe collared shirt for $5, but with my gift card it was FREE. It is the simply things that make it a good day. I love shopping for the little one and good buys feel awesome.

It’s Monkey time in Caden’s Room

I love the Monkey Theme. I purchased the wall decals from http://www.etsy.com/shop/evgieNev and they worked perfectly. Our walls have an orange peel texture and it still looks awesome. When people look at Caden’s nursery they always ask if I painted the monkey’s on. Definitely not artistic at all, but thank you! This is not the most updated picture of his nursery where I have added sentimental artifacts here and there.

The room is 10×10 so in order to get all the furniture in the room comfortably we removed the doors and put the changing table in the closet. At first I was not sure if this was going to make perfect sense functionally. Caden is now 4 months old and it works great. There is no air draft in the closet so it is slightly warmer which makes for a cozy diaper change. We raised the allen + roth White Shelf and purchased a modern looking shelving unit from Lowe’s.

Hot Deal Websites that will SAVE you

A trip to the mall experience to shop for a new outfit has all changed. Before being a Mom I would shop to I dropped. Going from store to store to find the latest trends and hottest deals. It was time consuming and all worth it. Now I simply do not have that luxury for time is of the essence. Shopping with a newborn is like shopping on black friday. You only have a small window of opportunity to find something that works and you may be able to try it on if your little one permits. I was forced to look into new shopping methods and discovered a wide world of online shopping. For me shopping online is better than going to busy department stores because I get to spend more quality time with my little one and shop at the same time. I am going to talk about my favorite websites that I use for mainly clothes. I am going to provide you the links and tell you a little why I like each site.

ology

Must have Baby Shampoo

I recently picked up Ology baby shampoo & body wash at Walgreens. This all-in-one baby shampoo has no harmful chemicals, hypoallergenic, and has a Lavender & Chamomile scent. My favorite thing about this product is the glorious smell and the all natural ingredients of the wash. Ology baby has no parabens or silicones, no dyes or pathalates, no animal byproducts, and packaging made from 100% post-consumer materials. I must say I love what Walgreens is doing for the environment and moms everywhere. The 13oz wash is larger than most sizes and the retail price is $4.99, however, with your rewards card the price is $3.99. You cannot beat this price for a product that is “all natural”. It is a must try for all moms!

Before using Ology baby shampoo I used Aveeno Baby Wash & Shampoo and Johnson’s Baby head-to-toe wash. I liked the smell of the Aveeno verse the Johnson’s Baby. What I did not like about both products is they contain Citric Acid. The price of both is slightly higher as well where Aveeno Baby retails for $5.99 and Johnson’s Baby retails for $4.99.

Ology baby body wash leaves my baby soft & smelling so sweet. I will definitely be trying other Ology products because of how pleased I was with their baby wash & shampoo. Some other product under the Ology brand are glass cleaner, laundry detergent, light bulbs, and toilet paper. Once I try other Ology products I will be sure to write my thoughts.
